General Directions:
Please read the directions thoroughly before
starting and follow them one step at a time. We have carefully perfected this
method for you and tested it, so you will have the most professional looking
results for your projects with as little difficulty as possible.
- Clean
glasses in clean, very warm water with a good dish detergent to remove
dirt and oils from the glasses. Dry with paper towels
- Take
the paper and pencil and write out the two lines of text you wish to put
in the frames of the stencil, one line over the other, just as they will
appear on the glass. On each line, count out the letters in the line,
including spaces and punctuation. Divide that number in half. Draw a
vertical line between the text on the paper at the halfway point, dividing
the text line in half. This will be your guide that will help you with the
placement of your letters so you do not misspell any of the words and that
the two lines will be centered in the frames when you are finished.
- On
each framed stencil, take the ruler and measure the center point of the
top of the first frame and at the center bottom of the second frame. Draw
a vertical line down the center of both lines connecting the marks. This
is your dividing line that will help center your text.
- Apply the Mr stencil to one glass and the
Mrs to the other.
- Starting
with the first letter on the first line to fall to the right of the
dividing line, lift the appropriate letter from the stencil sheet using
the tweezers and apply to the glass right of the dividing line. Apply each
of the rest of the letters that follow to the right of the dividing line
using your paper as your guide. Space the letters evenly but close
together, making sure the letters are straight and tops and bottoms of
each are even with one another.
- Now
you will add letters to the left half of the dividing line, working
backward from the center and out to the left. It is important to keep
referencing your paper, so you do not misspell any text.
- Repeat
with line two of text on the stencil
- Cover
exposed areas surrounding the glass with masking tape, overlapping all
edges of tape and the stencil.
- PAT
the Armour Etch glass etching cream onto the stencils (do not brush it on,
it will disturb the letters and your etching will come out streaky. View
the directions and How To video HERE.
Wait 5 minutes.
- Rinse off all the Etch cream
under low volume running water, being careful not to wash any of the
letters down the drain
- Gently remove tape and stencils and rinse
again.
- Repeat with other wine glass
