Sometimes you find the most unique and unusual things at garage sales and eclectic little gift shops. On one of my recent adventures, I found this mystical, bubble shaped perfume bottle with a blue star stopper. It was very interesting for an etching project. I decided to etch it with one of the Rub N Etch filigree hearts, which turned out to be a great idea!
Materials: #15-0150 Armour Etch Cream #20-0111 Rub N Etch stencil-Fancy Hearts #15-0315 Glass cleaner #08-9999 Rubber gloves #08-9606 Brushes #08-9415 Masking tape #08-9777 Scissors Fancy bottle with stopper Paper towels Old towel Directions: 1. Remove stopper from bottle and set aside. Clean bottle with glass cleaner to remove all dirt, grease and grime. 2. Make a nest with an old towel. Nestle the bottle in the middle. This will cushion the bottle and keep it from rolling around while you are applying the stencil and the Etch Cream. 3. Cut out one of the heart stencils from the stencil sheet. Trim a little of the blue material from the corners if need to help the stencil around the bottle better if it is very round. Follow the directions that come with your stencil package. Protect any of the exposed glass with masking tape. 4. Protect any of the exposed glass on the face of the bottle with masking tape. Overlap the edges of both the stencil and the tape. 5. Put on the gloves. Load your brush with some Armour Etch glass etching cream and PAT the cream on the stencil. Do not brush it on like you are painting. The image will not frost nicely. Read the directions that come with your stencil. View the directions and How To Video here 6. Leave the Etch cream on the stencil for 2 minutes. Rinse under warm, running water until all the cream and the stencil have been removed.
7. Dry completely, then polish with the glass cleaner
