Dry glass 2.From the Faces stencil, peel off the small nose stencil and apply it to the glass, slightly down from the rim. Next apply the eyes with the eyelashes as high as you can on either side of the nose, overlapping the stencils so the eyes are as close to the nose as you can get them without blocking any of the areas to be etched. Cover over the eyebrows with masking tape. You will not be etching them for this project. Next apply the girls lips (even if you are making a baby boy) overlapping the bottom edge of the nose. 3. Surround stencils with masking tape, overlapping all edges 4. Apply Armour Etch glass etching cream to the stencils. View the directions and How To video HERE. Wait 5 minutes. 5.Rinse off all the Etch cream under running warm water. Remove tape and stencils and rinse again. Pat stencils dry on paper towel and return to carrier sheet. Dressing Baby: 1. Take a ring for the ears and place one on a cutting mat or protected cutting surface. Line ring up with the grid lines (if you are using a cutting mat) so you can visually divide the ring in half. 2. Mark both sides of the ring with a craft knife and divide in half as evenly as possible. Only dent the ring but do not cut it. (the ring is too hard to cut with the craft knife, but denting it first will make it easier to cut with a scissor) Cut the dented lines with a scissor or Craft utility shear 3. To apply the ears, first determine where on the sides of the glass you will be placing them. For a normal looking face, line up the bottom of the ring with the mouth and the top half in line somewhere with the bottom of the eyes, but you can put them as high or low as you want. The position of the ears will contribute to the individual character of your glass. 4. Apply a dab of glue to the ends of one of the ring halve. Wait 30-45 seconds before applying the ring to the glass. Apply to the glass and hold for 15 seconds longer. Try not to wiggle it. If you slop some of the glue, do not worry, you can clean it up after it dries Repeat on other side. Allow to dry overnight 5. Once the ears are dry, if there is too much glue spread around the ear, take the craft knife and gently try to push back the glue toward the ear without disturbing it. The glue is a bit flexible and if there is not a lot of glue you can clean it up this way. If you have a lot of glue, cut some off with the knife and tuck in the rest. 6. To make the bib, cut two circles, a white one at 2 inches and a pink or blue one at 2 1/2 inches. Glue the white circle on top of the colored one off to one edge of the colored one using the glue stick for paper. Find the center of the white circle. Relying only on the white circle for reference, cut a wedge out of the white circle to the center point you made (pink layer will cut too in the process). The width of the pie wedge depends on the thickness of the stem of your glass, so this is not an exact process. Make a small wedge at first, widen it if needed, until you can form a slight cone around the base of the glass (see picture). If the bib will not go around the glass nicely, snip out a bit of the center of the circle. Do not glue it to the glass yet. 7. Once you have the bib fitted well to the stemware, lay the bib flat on the table. Across the center front of the bib, write or stamp Its a Gir on the white layer. Now you can glue it around the neck of the stemware using a hot glue gun. Make a pink or blue bow and glue to the upper front of the bib. 8. Take the utility shears and cut the bulb off the pacifier (the part that goes in the babys mouth). Hold the sandpaper down on the table and rub the cut side of the pacifier over the sandpaper until it is smooth enough to glue to the babys mouth. Use the hot glue gun and glue to the babys mouth 9. Cut 3 one inch segments of the jute curly hair. Lay them side by side and tie them together at the middle with a twistie or floral wire. Trim excess wire. Hot glue bundle to forehead. Make a bow and glue to the center. If the hair is too long, trim if needed. |
