Stone Finished Vase

 

Supplies:

  • #77-7721 Armour Bottle & Jar Cutter
  • #15-0315 Glass cleaner
  • #85-2171 Sponge Brush (if painting stone on from jar paint)
  • Krylon Make It Stone,  Duncan Granite paint (Desert Sandstone shown) or other textured paint
  • Fancy squared off bottle  (look for Imported Congac, Brandy, Balsamic vinegar and olive oil bottles )
  • Newspaper
  • Eye protection
  • Canvas gloves (gardening type work well)
  • Cutter wheel oil
  • Paper towels

General Instructions:

  1. Put on canvas gloves and eye protection.
  2. Oil the cutter wheel and set up Bottle cutter as specified in the instruction booklet.
  3. Cut threaded part off the bottle neck. Follow the instructions that come with your Bottle cutter View the directions and How to Videos
  4. Lay out newspaper on work surface. Gently sand off the sharp cut edges with the sandpaper provided with your kit.
  5. Clean bottle well with glass cleaner to remove any dust and residue from cutting and sanding.

Decorating the bottle:

  1. Spray or pat stone paint on sporadically until a rock like appearance forms on bottle. Allow to dry.

Suggestions:

  1. Paint a southwestern motif on the bottle after stone paint dries.

To change up the look, instead of a stone finish, try one of our Krylon finishes: Looking Glass Mirror-like Paint #61-2725, Make It Iridescent #61-2728, Foil Metallic Gold Plate #61-2729 or Chrome Finish  #61-2730.
