Supplies:

  • #77-7721 Armour Bottle & Jar Cutter
  • #15-0315 Glass cleaner
  • #61-3340 Dazzle Tac glue
  • Orangina juice bottle
  • Metallic gold acrylic paint
  • Gold half pearls or cabochon beads
  • Sculpey or Fimo clay- beige, gold or color of your choice
  • Small  textured sponge
  • Baking sheet
  • Newspaper
  • Eye protection
  • Canvas gloves (gardening type work well)
  • Cutter wheel oil
  • Paper towels
  • Votive Candle

General Instructions:

  1. Put on canvas gloves and eye protection.
  2. Oil the cutter wheel and set up Bottle cutter as specified in the instruction booklet.
  3. Cut bottle where it widens out on the ball portion. Use the picture as a reference point. Follow the instructions that come with your Bottle cutter ..View the directions and How to Videos
  4. Lay out newspaper on work surface. Gently sand off the sharp cut edges with the sandpaper provided with your kit.
  5. Clean bottle well with glass cleaner to remove any dust and glue residue.

Decorating the bottle:

  1. Knead the clay in your hands for a minute or so to get it soft and pliable.
  2. Roll out a snake about ½” thick.
  3. Wrap snake around the top edge of the bottle. Gently press onto glass. Seal the edges.
  4. Place the bottle on a cookie sheet and bake at 275 degrees on middle rack in the oven for about 10-15 minutes in a well ventilated room. Check often. Do not allow to burn. If clay is a little thick, it may need to bake a minute or two longer but no more than 20 minutes. Check constantly until clay is firm. Cool bottle completely.
  5. Lightly sponge the gold paint on the bottle leaving some areas slightly exposed so the candlelight shows through the glass. Let dry.
  6. Glue gold half pearls around bottle with the Gem Tac glue. Let dry before lighting candle.

Suggestions:

  1. Before sponging on paint, apply some vinyl stickers (stars sound nice!) to the bottle. Remove as soon as paint is set. Do not leave stickers on until paint dries, they may not come off.
  2. Instead of painting the bottle, you could frost the glass with #15-0270 Etch Bath and just paint the Sculpey rim with the gold paint or use Rub N Buff (found in the craft supplies of our website) for the rim or all of the bottle.
  3. Substitute Rhinestones for the gold flat backed pearls (also found in the craft supplies of our website).
