Tip – Embelish Your Etching with Rhinestone’s

Supplies you’ll need:

  • #85-2108 Craft knife
  • Rhinestones
  • Plastic plate
  • White glue for hard or shiny surfaces (I like “Crafter’s Pick” by API, it’s a high performance glue for hard to glue projects)
  • Tooth picks
  1. First make your application tool with the toothpick:  Squeeze a tiny bit of glue onto the paper plate. Dip one end of the toothpick into the glue and let dry. Once dry, the rhinestone will stick to the dried glue without marring the face of the stone and help you pick up tiny stones and place them flawlessly where desired.
  2. While the toothpick is drying, decide where you would like to mount the Rhinestones.
  3. Squeeze a pea size amount of glue on the plate. Dip the clean end of your toothpick in the glue and place a dot of glue slightly smaller than your rhinestone on the glass where you wish to place it. Only place a couple of dots at a time and mount your stones. The glue dries pretty fast and you want to get a good bond.
  4. With your rhinestone face up, pick it up with the glue-dried end of your toothpick by sticking the tip on the stones face. Place it over your dot of glue, let it make contact, it should come off the toothpick and stick to the glue. Press it down gently until it is firmly in the glue and looks flat to the glass. Do not press down so much that all the glue squeezes out. Let dry thoroughly.
  5. If too much glue was applied and shows out around the stone too much, let it dry until gummy & pliable. Take the craft knife and gently scrape the glue back towards the stone and pack it around the edge. If there is still a noticeable gob of glue there, wait till it is totally dry and slice it off with the craft knife.
